Star of the Week (June 20, 2021)

This week, we pay tribute to the "Kin" in Kindaris--that's Ms. Nina Mae McKinney!

Nina Mae McKinney (her first name pronounced as "Nine-uh") made her screen debut as "Chick" in Hallelujah (1929). This role made her Hollywood's first Black "leading lady". Unfortunately, McKinney's Hollywood career didn't take off life her pre-code era peers. But we at Kindaris will celebrate her like the star she was and is.
